Wear and Carry Permit training, provided by Maryland State Police approved Qualified Handgun Instructors established through the Maryland State Police, includes a 16 hour course for new applicants and an 8 hour course for renewals, covering firearm laws, handgun safety, operation, and proficiency.

The Handgun Qualification License (HQL) training is a four-hour course covering state firearm laws, home firearm safety, handgun operation, and a live-fire demonstration.
